Drinking and Drugs - Stay Safe
It is outside the scope of this site to provide you with our own advice on drugs,
but here are some links to the best websites and helplines, to help
you with advice on alcohol and all types of drugs.
There are also some external links to advice in the right-hand Menu.
The Official Sites
The Health Education Authority used to have two very informative sites, one on
drugs and one on alcohol. These days it recommends you 'Talk to Frank' instead,
at
www.talktofrank.com.
Their helpline is on 0800 776600.
Many drugs advice sites are slightly stuffy and written to
disuade people from taking them. This is not to say that drug use is
a good thing, particularly as whatever your opinion, it is illegal.
However, here are some alternative sites regarding specific drugs.
While these sites do not encourage use, they do provide more information
about them. They do also include the disadvantages and bad effects of
each drug - but are written in a manner that encourages the reader to make
his own mind up and provides all the information you might need.
Other Sites
Urban 75 has an extrememly informative, unbiased guide to all drugs, at
www.urban75.com/Drugs. This is one of the most useful sites out there.
It includes the good and bad effects of various drugs, It also highlights
the law, the situation with drug usage in clubs, how long the drug remains
in your body, and first aid advice. It is a good practical guide.
MissYourMum does not encourage drug use in any way. However it is important,
since most students will encounter drugs at university, that the facts
are readily available.
